Volkswagen Care plans are organized by mileage intervals and vary based on vehicle model year. For 2018 and newer Volkswagen models, the main plan options cover scheduled maintenance visits at specific mileage points outlined in the vehicle USA Warranty and Maintenance booklet.

Volkswagen Care Basic includes the 10,000-mile and 20,000-mile manufacturer-recommended maintenance services. These visits generally include essential items such as oil and filter changes, multi-point inspections, and other required maintenance listed for those intervals.

Volkswagen Care Extra applies to the 30,000-mile scheduled maintenance visit, which often includes additional inspection and service items beyond the earlier maintenance intervals. Volkswagen Care Plus Package 1 covers the 40,000-mile and 50,000-mile services, while Package 2 covers the 60,000-mile and 70,000-mile intervals. Higher-mileage packages may also be available for drivers who plan to keep their vehicle longer.

Repairs for mechanical breakdowns, worn brake components, hoses, wheel alignment, wheel balancing, and services outside the recommended maintenance schedule are not included.

Because Volkswagen Care is not an extended warranty or service contract, it does not replace mechanical repair coverage. Drivers who want protection beyond the factory warranty would need to consider a separate extended service agreement.

New Volkswagen owners may also be able to add a plan before the first covered maintenance interval is due.

Volkswagen Care is available as a prepaid maintenance plan and is not the same as complimentary maintenance. However, Volkswagen includes 24-Hour Roadside Assistance with all 2016 and newer Volkswagen models for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

This roadside coverage is separate from Volkswagen Care and comes with every new Volkswagen at no additional cost. It includes helpful services such as no-charge towing, battery jump-start assistance, flat tire service, and fuel delivery.
